The EU PEACE IV-funded HEROES Inclusive Youth Project officially ended on 30 June 2022.
After four year’s working with young people with different abilities from 3 geographical locations: Greater Belfast, Fermanagh/border counties and Derry-Londonderry/Donegal. HEROES (Helping Equality Equality is when everyone is treated fairly. , Respecting Others, Enabling Success) is an inclusive, cross- community A community is the people and places in an area. , cross border project that supports young people with and without learning difficulties with personal development, citizenship and good relations.
351 young people took part over the lifetime of the HEROES Project with 269 young people completing their time on the project.

HEROES is a Peace IV funded inclusion project, lead by Mencap NI in partnership with Londonderry YMCA, Devenish Partnership Forum in Fermanagh, Health Service Executive in Donegal and Sligo and the Special EU Programmes Body.
This project is supported by the European Union’s Peace IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB). Project, funding of up to €274,718 has been awarded.

HEROES youth project supported 351 young people with and without learning difficulties with personal development, citizenship and good relations.
HEROES stands for Helping Equality, Respecting Others, Enabling Success.
The HEROES project allows young people to take part in group work, individual mentoring, cultural trips, and free residentials. All activities are based on the young people’s interests and what they like to do.
We want young people from all communities and abilities to get involved Involved is being included in something or taking part in something. in the HEROES Project so they can develop their confidence, have new experiences and build positive relationships that will last. We want the young people we work with to have an amazing experience they won’t forget.
