One of our competition winners William has a learning disability A learning disability is to do with the way someone's brain works. It makes it harder for someone to learn, understand or do things. and designed a sock called 'embrace the ability' and said: "I designed the sock with 'embrace the ability' on it because I wanted disabled people to show what they can do, not what they cannot do. I chose bright colours so the socks look interesting"
World Down Syndrome Day
Down syndrome, also referred to as Down's syndrome, is just one of many different types of learning disability. Most people have two copies of chromosome 21, while those with three copies of chromosome 21 have Down syndrome. This is why we celebrate World Down Syndrome Day on 21 March each year and encourage people to Rock Your Socks in March.
