The RTE Toy Show Appeal has awarded Mencap NI funding to improve the wellbeing of young people with a learning disability A learning disability is to do with the way someone's brain works. It makes it harder for someone to learn, understand or do things. by providing them with opportunities to improve their physical and mental health.
The FIVE Project focusing on Friendship, Independence Independence means doing things on your own. Making your own choices. , Vitality and Engagement will provide six, 15-week programmes, combining individual mentoring with group activities. The project will work with small groups of 6-9 young people, aged 13-18, with a learning disability and special educational needs (SEN) in the Greater Belfast area.

This programme will provide a pathway to improve young people’s physical and mental health through mentoring and groups activities.”
The Five Project will use the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’ and help young people Connect, Be active, Take notice, Keep learning and Give.
