Locally-owned fitness centre chain GymCo has announced a fundraising partnership with learning disability charity Mencap NI.
GymCo seeks to meet ambitious fundraising targets through a varied plan of initiatives, including helping participants train for and compete in the 2018 Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon and Half Marathon, of which Mencap NI is the official charity partner.
Jim Conlon, Director of JDM Group, owners of the GymCo brand, said:
“We are delighted to have teamed up with Mencap NI and to help anyone signing up for the 2018 Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon’s official charity."
“I recently visited the Mencap Centre in Belfast to see some of the world-class support facilities they offer to people with a learning disability and their families. We are proud to be involved and are looking forward to the marathon challenge ahead.”
"Last year over 125 GymCo members took on the challenge and this year we currently have 150 members who will Move It For Mencap this year."
Seán Conlon, Events Fundraising Manager for Mencap added:
“This is a great opportunity to be working with GymCo. This is our third year as the official charity partner for the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon and we are excited about the initiatives, support and advice that GymCo can offer all of our marathon participants.
“Money raised through GymCo’s support will benefit a variety of Mencap services, including our new family support programme that offers bespoke guidance to families with a child diagnosed with a learning disability.
“We can’t wait to start ‘working out’ with GymCo and together achieve our fantastic fundraising goal.”
GymCo currently has two sites in Belfast - one at City Side and one at The Devenish, Northern Ireland’s largest independent gym.
